WHY TRY?   WHY YOU?

There is something only you can offer — a perspective, an approach, a vibe that only you, with all of your experiences and skills and hangups and curiosities, can create.

Join us at the Pretty Decent Internet Café as we explore what, exactly, that "something" is, and how to leverage it into a product or service offering that co-creates the kind of life you want to live.

How To Make A Living

(as an artist, creative, researcher, baker, ceramicist, writer, designer, etc.)

Write often
Talk to yourself
Doodle in the margins
Find the point

Experiment for fun, then learn from it
Know what you need, then ask for it

Try shamelessly
Look for patterns
Self-advocate
Read the fine print

Challenge the Shoulds
Ride the waves
Follow the clues
Let it be easy

Trust your instincts
Nourish your body of work
Embrace failure
Take risks
Find the least complicated next step

When in doubt, return to these questions honestly:
Why are you trying?
Why does it have to be you?

Meet Your Host: Lexi Merritt

Hi my friend! I'm so thrilled to invite you to this Offer Design workshop. As the founder of the Pretty Decent Internet Café, I dedicate nearly all of my waking hours to creating resources for artists and creative business owners.

For centuries, artists and thinkers have gathered in cafés for conversation and collaboration. The Pretty Decent Internet Café is no different — we just happen to be online.

In my 10 years of practice, the most important lesson I've learned is that we often need more than spreadsheets and courses — we need real, genuine opportunities to connect with one another.

Recorded live on Feb 18, WHY TRY? & WHY YOU?, is a slightly philosophical, slightly practical workshop in designing an offer to sell.
