Working for yourself is a blessing and a challenge.
On one hand, there's the freedom: The control over your own schedule, the lack of hoops to jump through, the ability to make your ideas happen.
On the other hand, working for yourself often means no one's checking to make sure you actually do the thing you said you were going to do. It means buying your own office supplies, sourcing your own checks and managing your own time.
Even if you're currently at a traditional job, you may be dreaming of the day you can break free and run your own show. You might be surfing the web trying to find all the best strategies, hacks and morning routines, hoping one of them will help you "get there."
At least, that's how I felt when I first started working for myself back in 2017. Suddenly, my "bosses" were "clients," and with that came a whole new slew of responsibilities. I often found my 23-year-old self sitting at my desk in the dark, staring at the wall, completely paralyzed by my inability to figure out what to do next.
Fun fact: It's actually not just a matter of "discipline." Self-management, like any other form of people management, is about resources.
Join me for Resources for Self-Management, a 4-day video series designed to help you find those resources — specifically, the time, money and motivation you'll need if you want to work for yourself. We'll cover:
- Why understanding your core values make such a big difference on your ability to manage yourself
- What people really mean when they say "I want to feel fulfilled at work"
- How to be practical (aka how to bring your big dreams down to earth)
- Where to find the time
- Where to find the money
- Where to find the motivation
- And, best of all, HOW to actually make it all happen.
You'll also get instant access to our private Slack café channel and a global community of creative thinkers.

Who I Am
My name is Lexi Merritt and I'm the founder of Pretty Decent, an Internet Café and educational gathering space right here on the World Wide Web.
My mission in life is to help creative thinkers turn dreams and ideas into fulfilling digital businesses, ones that empower you to work for yourself from anywhere in the world. In exploring that mission, I've talked to, tutored and interviewed creative thinkers across all disciplines.
What I've found is, no matter what it is "you do," we all come up against the same roadblock: A lack of resources.
Three resources, to be exact: Time, Money and Motivation.
After hearing these same problems over and over and over again, I did what any decent creative entrepreneur would do: I started researching solutions.
This video series is the result of months of research, dozens of interviews, hours of reading and way too many tabs to count. It's exactly what I wish I could go back and time and give that 23-year-old who craved independence but had no idea what the hell to do next.
I'm so excited to share it with you.
